Creation of the Central Asian Higher Educational Area: Prospects for Regional Internationalization

On June 18, 2021, an agreement to create a unified higher education area in the Central Asian region – the Turkestan Declaration was signed by the ministers of education of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. By establishing the Central Asian Higher Educational Area (CAHEA), Central Asian representatives aspire to enhance cooperation in the field of higher education through developing joint educational programs and joint research projects, supporting regional mobility of students, and academic staff, ensuring the recognition of educational documents and procedures, as well as providing specific grants for enrollees from the region.
